Chapter 9

For anyone who didn't understand the ending to that chapter. Dalal was driving around looking at places, thinking about where she could get a job. When she drove by a art studio, something lit up in her, I guess I'll explain it more during this chapter. Think hard about how Talal and her met, maybe you'd understand why he could help.

---

I parked in the underground parking, making my way to the elevator. I pressed the worn out 14th floor button hesitantly. It was scary. Seeing Talal after only a week.. Maybe he'd think wrong of this. I contemplated going back to the Jumeirah and just finding any cashier job.. But I did need something that payed well.. And well, I had made it this far. It's not like I'll be talking about anything personal..

This was strictly business.

Tingggggg. The elevator indicated it's arrival on the floor. I walked out and knocked on his apartment door. I didn't give myself any chance to re-think my actions.

I waited 2 minutes, he didn't answer.. I knocked again, but no answer. I turned around, defeated. As I was about 2 - 3 steps ahead, walking away. The sound of the door unlocking made it's way to my ears, I turned around and found Talal staring at me. Along with the fury in his eyes, burning through my body came a disgusting stench. It smelled like rotten food, dirty socks and sweat. I was shocked at how bad he looked, he looked wrecked. I didn't think this is what it would be like if I left his life.. I hesitated to hurt him more and only speak of business. I instantly regret coming here, this was not my place..

Dalal: Umm... Talal, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have come. Take care.

With that I turned around but didn't move, I wanted to, but it was like I was glued in my place. I stood there for what seemed like hours, but only a few seconds. The next thing I knew was Talal holding onto my wrist, and dragging me into his apartment.

  1. Although the chapter was short, but it cleared things out. I too was disappointed by Talal's reaction when Dalal decided to leave. However, I'm glad he had a miserable life after that.
