Chapter 10

Hello! I just wanted to say I'm sorry I don't post much and sometimes take long. It's jut because I really do spend 12 hours of my day asleep, 4-6 with my family, and 6-8 watching my TV shows :p But anyways, I'm making this post very long so enjoy it!

Talal's Point of View:

I was sitting down, having the last ice-cream scoop there was in the box. I had bought it for Dalal, but she's not here anymore.  I haven't left the apartment once since she left, I feel like her soul might still be with me, and I might lose it if I leave..

I could hear knocks, to be honest I really didn't want to answer. I turned my head and tried to block it out, but the person knocked again. This person just does not give up, so I stood up and reluctantly and made my way to the door. When I swung it open, ready to shout at whoever this was, I saw her. Dalal. What was she doing here? I couldn't stop staring.

No, no. I must be dreaming.

She left, right? Or was this all a big nightmare.. No no, I'm sure it's real, I can smell myself.

She stuttered, I could see she was nervous by her fast moving chest.

Dalal: Umm... Talal, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have come. Take care.

I laughed a little on the inside, it was then I knew that she needed help. She didn't come here because she misses me, and is going back on her decision. No, she needs something.. Great.

She turned around, probably because I hadn't said a word. It made me feel bad, I had promised her that I'd always do whatever I could to make her happy, and to make sure she was doing okay.

*Flashback*

Dalal had just come to the studio that was owned by her, but occupied by me. She was crying her eyes out, she had gotten a beating last night. But what made her sadder was that Youssef was saying nasty stuff about why her father left and how it's her fault, that hurt her the most because she loved her father.

Talal: Dalal why are you crying?!

I quickly held her in my arms, and made sure she felt protected as she told me the story. It killed me to know I couldn't do anything, sometimes she'd come stay with me in the studio for a night. I'd watch her paint, and express her feelings. She was a beautiful painter, the main reason I loved living in the studio was because I use to stay up late at night and look at her paintings and admire them.

When she finished crying that night, I laid her down on the bed and laid down next to her, we were facing each other. I could see she was still hurt, her eyes were searching for answers, for love, for care, for security.

Talal: Dalal you know that I have your back right? Whatever happens, I'm here. I'm going to protect you, care for you, anything you need you ring me up.

She nodded, I could see a smile creeping up on her lips. Then her eye-lids began to shut, and she was fast asleep in a few minutes.

*End of Flashback*

I held her wrists before she turned around, and I walked back into my apartment. I was holding on extremely tight, I guess that was just because I really didn't want to let go. When I closed the door, I walked her to the couch and told her to wait. She nodded. I went and got her a mango smoothie from the fridge, which I always kept incase she dropped by. She smiled when I gave it to her. I stood there for a second watching her smile, I missed her. But she caught me so I quickly sat down and turned my head to her.

Talal: How are you?

Dalal: I'm good, and you?

She seemed uncomfortable, that I was acting like it was all okay.

Talal: I know you need something, or you wouldn't ever back out of your choice and come here to talk to me. And as I remember, I made a promise to you that I'd help you in anything? So what do you need?

She looked down, seemingly embarrassed that she's having to come to me for help. She looked at the ground for a minute or two then looked up and sighed.

Dalal: I, I need to pay for my own university. I saw my dad, but I can't ask that of him of course. I'm doing this on my own, and I need big income. I want to put my paintings in a gallery I saw, but you have the keys to my studio and well.. I can't go back to Dubai, so I came here to ask if you'd so kindly go back there and get me the paintings?

She was speaking extremely fast and I could barely catch the words jumping from her mouth. She hated that she had to ask for this, but I knew she wouldn't be able to go back there. I didn't say a word or ask for an explanation or bring up anything from the last time we saw each other, and I made sure I didn't ask for her to come back and not leave me. I just stood up, grabbed my keys and headed for the door. Before I closed it behind me, I said:

Talal: Give me 2 hours, if you want to stay here then sure, or you can come back.

After that, I left and made my way back to Dubai.

Back to Dalal's point of view

I spent about half an hour just thinking about everything.. How he said he knew I wouldn't come unless I needed something.. I needed him. I really really did. But I didn't know how to tell him, I didn't know how to tell him how I feel or why, because I really couldn't explain it to myself.

I cut myself from going too deep, and went to his bed to lay down, I was extremely tired for some reason. As soon as I smelled his scent, I began to cry. Tears just kept filling my eyes, I couldn't stop. I made myself comfortable, and tried to calm down, but I ended up crying silently under his covers, covering his whole bed with tears. I fell asleep after what seemed like hours..

Talal's point of view

I came back after 2 hours, like I had promised, but she wasn't in my living room. I checked the kitchen and she also wasn't there. I thought she had probably left and would come back later. I began to walk to my room and took my shirt off on the way.. When it was finally off of my face, I was half way in my room and on my bed was Dalal curved into a little ball under my covers. I didn't want to wake her up so I stayed quiet, went into my closet room and got a shirt and shorts. As I walked out, she was awake, wide eyed. She seemed a bit scared but relaxed once she realized it was just me.

Talal: I'm sorry for waking you.. But I got your paintings by the way.

Dalal: No, I'm sorry I lost track of time and fell asleep.. Thankyou so much Talal, this is very appreciated!

I hated it, I looked down because it was all professional talk between us. When would I ever apologize for waking her up? I use to enjoy messing around with her to wake up. And when was it okay for her to apologize about falling asleep on my bed, she's done it millions of times before! But of course, what could I say to bring her back now? To explain how I feel and hope she feels the same way? No way, then she'd NEVER want to come back for me!

She stood up, and I led her to the living room then helped her take them down to her car.

When we finished loading them in the trunk, she walked to driving seat, but turned around to look at me. She opened her mouth, but didn't say anything. I guess she also didn't know what to say, but that made me wonder in what was in her heart.. But I always cut those thoughts off, there was no way she felt the same way. I took a few seconds to take in her features once again. I could stare at her hours and still miss her beauty if I looked away.

Talal: Thankyou for thinking of me, and telling me when you needed something. You know I'm here if there's anything else at all. Take care Dalal.

She looked stunned, probably expecting something else, I just didn't know what else I could say.

She stared at me for 2 minutes, and didn't say anything. I guess she's still surprised..

But I convinced myself there was nothing else to be said, turned around and began walking away.

Dalal's point of view

I couldn't let him walk away, so instead of him always securing me, loving me and caring for me. I made sure to take a risk and not leave him like this..

Dalal: TALAL WAIT
